NEW SSR HERO DEBUT - LU YOU

Lu You, courtesy name Wuguan, also known as Fangweng, the late-life appellation, Elderly Guitang, from Shanyin County, Yuezhou Commandery. Liu You achieved great success in literature, history, and calligraphy, dedicating his life to writing. He authored 85 volumes of Poems in the Southern Borders, 50 volumes of Collection of Proses in the South of the Wei River, and 10 volumes of [Notes from Old Scholar's Study]. He also supervised the compilation of records for two dynasties and three historical periods and privately compiled the Book of Southern Tang. Liu You held official positions up to the rank of Official Consultant. His calligraphy was expressive and heroic, including Bitter Cold Calligraphy. Born at the transition between the Northern and Southern Song Dynasties, he advocated for military expeditions northward throughout his life, actively offering advice and strategies. It's a pity that he did not live to see the unification of the north. He succumbed to illness amidst deep sorrow.

Lu You often speaks of his three great loves: First, cats. Regardless of their color or breed, Lu You adores them all. He often brings newly found cat spirits to people, asking, Would you like to adopt this one? In his view, cats are perfect and have no drawbacks. A personage once joked, If I could be reborn, I would rather be Lu You's cat than a person in tumultuous times.

Second, wintersweet. Lu You fears the cold, but the best wintersweet blossoms blooming in the coldest winter nights. So he always wraps himself warmly and treads on snow in the hope of finding the reddest wintersweet blossom. Sometimes, when a cat nestles at his feet, he will take the cat outside and slowly tell it about the virtues of wintersweet. Let other flowers their envy pour, to spring she lays no claim. Fallen in mud and ground to dust, she seems no more, but her fragrance is still the same. Lu You might have been referring to wintersweet or perhaps of himself. The cat, not understanding, merely stretches its paw from his arms to lightly touch the red wintersweet blossoms on the branches.

Third, the grandeur of a unified and peaceful empire. Though he never witnessed the northern armies securing the Central Plains in his lifetime, he has come to realize, after arriving in the Lethe, that there is a future and descendants, and that nothing is entirely in vain. Whenever a new personage arrives in the Lethe, Lu You will visit them with gifts, inquiring about the current dynasty, the borders of the state, and whether the people are enjoying peace and prosperity. Whenever he hears talk of prosperous times, Lu You, usually so disciplined, will often drink a few extra cups and fall into a drunken sleep. In his dreams, whether he sees armored horses and frozen rivers or evergreen mountains and flowing rivers is unknown.
